In addition to numerous private airfields, New Hampshire offers commercial service from airports in Manchester, Laconia, Lebanon, Keene, and Pease International Tradeport in the Seacoast area. Of these facilities, the Manchester Airport is by far the largest, served by six carriers providing direct connections to New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington, Newark, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Portland, and Portsmouth, NH. The airport and industrial area surrounding it have been designated a Foreign Trade Zone. Plans are under way to redevelop the former Pease Air Force Base into an international tradeport. The former base encompasses 4,255 acres. New Hampshire is by interstates and other major highways, providing easy access to both in-state and out-of-state markets. An extensive network of motor common carriers provides direct connections to and from all points in the United States and Canada. Overnight service is available to Albany, Baltimore, Boston, Montreal, New York, Philadelphia and Washington. Highways are supplemented by 626.9 miles of rail that covers most parts of the state. The Boston & Maine is the primary carrier in New Hampshire and serves the Port of New Hampshire. |
