Airports
There are two regional airports near Stratham located in Rockingham County – Pease Airport and Manchester Airport. Pease Airport is located entirely within the County, at the Pease International Tradeport in Newington/Portsmouth. Pease Airport opened for civilian use in 1991, following the closure of Pease Air Force Base, and offers both passenger and airfreight flights. Scheduled passenger and charter flight service have been provided by Pan American Airways since 1999, and includes direct flights to Orlando (Sanford/Orlando Florida Airport) and Chicago (Gary, IN Airport). Service to St. Louis (via Mascoutah, IL MidAmerica Airport) is planned to start in Summer 2000.
Manchester Airport on the Manchester/Londonderry border
is a growing regional airport that has increased its role as a reliever airport for Boston’s Logan International Airport. The Airport provides both passenger and air cargo services. Since
1998, five new airlines-Southwest, Northwest, Continental, Metro Jet and ASA Delta Connection – have started service at Manchester. In addition, other resident airlines are adding new
service. Passenger activity increased 75% in 1998, and an additional 45% in 1999. In the last two years, activity at the airport has increased from 1.1 million passengers to over 2.8 million. The airport expects over 3.5
million passengers in 2000.
In addition to Pease and Manchester Airports, residents and businesses also have excellent access to Boston’s Logan International Airport for both cargo and passenger service.
